If you're road-tripping or cycling through northern Taiwan, Sanxia Old Street is the kind of heritage stop that breaks up the journey perfectly. It's a compact, walkable strip of historic buildings, with red-brick facades and arcaded walkways that date back to the Japanese era. The street is famous for its food—especially the beef noodles, tofu pudding, and the local specialty, pig's blood cake. But the real draw is the atmosphere. The street is lined with shops selling traditional crafts, snacks, and souvenirs, and there's a temple at the end that's worth a peek. It's not as crowded as Jiufen or Tamsui, which makes it a pleasant place to wander. Grab a bite, take a few photos, and then get back on the road. It's a perfect pit stop.
